SEEMA at ISNA: Hidden in Plain Sight

September 2, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm UTC+0

Mental illness affects 1 in 4 people. That means, almost every single one of us has some affiliation with a person who has a mental illness. Is it you? A family member? Your best friend?

Find out how 3 Pakistani-American sisters took their late mothers battle with mental illness and created SEEMA, a new organizational arm of MUHSEN. SEEMA supports Muslim families across the U.S. who are hiding from the shame and stigma of mental illness in their own lives.

Sarah Sultan LPC will discuss the effects of mental illness on family members and loved ones, and what you can do to support them. Shaykh Omar Husain will discuss why the Muslim community needs to support mental health advocacy, to better support loved ones and community members.

Moderator: Saima Ahmed
Speakers: Shaykh Omar HusainSarah Sultan LPC, Naureen Ahmed
